The Outer Loop Theater Experience is now accepting video audition submissions for our November/December 2024 production of 13 Suits: A Mother’s Monologues, on the mainstage at Raven Theatre. Please submit a current headshot, resume, and contemporary monologue (no more than 2 minutes in length) to thirteensuits@outerlooptheater.org by Friday, May 17th.

Non union. Chicago local hire only. 

Show information: 

13 Suits: A Mother's Monologues is coming to Chicago, after a sold out run in New York last year! The show will be produced on the mainstage at Raven Theatre. 

Synopsis: 

Walking home from a bar late one December night, Patrick is struck by a drunk driver. The driver flees the scene, and only after 90 minutes and 17 phone calls to relatives and lawyers, is she finally persuaded to call 911. But it’s too late. Patrick is dead, at age 30. And given the delay in reporting the incident, his organ-donor status is no longer relevant. Based on actual events, 13 Suits: A Mother's Monologues is an immersive documentary theatrical experience, initially crafted from a mother's reflections after losing her son. In a Laramie Project meets Vagina Monologues-style event, the play also draws on dozens of personal accounts and stories, as well as powerful statistics, to help weave a timely and poignant cautionary tale… one of grief, loss and healing, in the wake of seemingly insurmountable tragedy.

• VIRTUAL REHEARSALS - 10/28 - 11/2

• IN PERSON REHEARSALS - 11/4 - 11/19

• TECH - 11/20 - 11/26

• (break for Thanksgiving)

• PREVIEWS - 11/30, 12/1, 12/5

• OPENING NIGHT - 12/6

• SHOWS - 12/6 - 12/22 (Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun)

• CLOSE/STRIKE - 12/22 (before Christmas)

Pay: $500 stipend

Material to Prepare: 

Contemporary monologue no more than 2 minutes in length. If you speak another language with a reasonable degree of fluency, please let us know in the body of your email or in your slate!

Video submissions will be accepted through Friday, May 17th. In person callbacks will be held at The Little Studio in the Fine Arts Building in Chicago on 6/7, 6/8, and 6/9. At this time we are only seeking non-union actors who are able to work local hire in Chicago.
